The high-speed, high-precision, and highly efficient automated processing of coil materials places increasingly stringent demands on the control of their lateral positioning. Equipping the system with a high-performance automatic web‑centering mechanism is key to boosting production capacity and improving yield. During unwinding, intermediate handling, and rewinding, coils inevitably experience lateral displacement (deviation). Therefore, a web‑centering system can be installed at any of these three stages as needed to ensure the coil passes through designated positions with exact accuracy. The web‑centering system is an automated control system comprising a controller, edge‑ or line‑sensing sensors, an electric actuator, and a correction mechanism. The sensing device detects the relative position of the coil's edge, a reference line, or a color mark, converting this information into an electrical signal that is sent to the controller. The controller compares this signal with the setpoint; based on the deviation, it outputs a proportionally adjusted signal to the electric actuator, which immediately initiates corrective action.
